We offer 5 optional workshops, of which you will be able 1, 2 or 3, depending on your track schedule and your energy level.
For whom? Everybody who wants more input, or for solo dancers who want to take a partnered workshop and vice versa.
Why add an optional workshop? This way you can have input from some of the inspirers who are maybe not in your track ‘package’, you can grow within a specific topic, or you can have an additional opportunity to learn from a specific inspirer.
Register separately for 1 or more optional workshops when signing up for Big City Blues here.
SATURDAY 9 March
11:00 – 12:00 Awakening Yoga Session with Els
Let’s roll into our blues weekend with a gentle wake up flow. We’ll explore some soothing stretches, and kindly activate our bodies, so you’re ready for the classes (and parties) to come. Take this time for you to recenter and reboot.
12:15 – 13:30 Couple workshop with Jamica & Charlley
What happens when you put an experienced dancer and facilitator together with an elder person who learned to dance when being a teenager, and who has been playing blues for 35 years? Magic of course! Jamica & Charlley will bring you deeper insights of blues music and it’s dances. If you feel there is so much to discover from the black American ways, take a chance on this workshop! The topic for this workshop will be shared later.
15:15 – 16:30 Solo workshop with Sep
In this workshop Sep generously wants to share what are the biggest takeaways he took from living a blues & jazz infused lifestyle. For more than 10 years he has been immersed in a local scene that has very powerful roots in blues nightlife, music and community building. This lifestyle and living and performing alongside blues artists such as Tiny Legs Tim, The Reverent Juke, the Missy Sippy All Stars, Sam Coenegrachts, Guy Verlinden… exposed Sep to a rich range of inspiration, knowledge and input from which he draws to improvise as a social dancer and performer. The focus of the workshop will be on how to connect to the music and have your movement guided by its endless sources of layered elements to be moved by.

These two wonderful humans are maybe not known for their blues dance skills and knowledge. Yet, being very experienced movers, facilitators and culturally competent inspirers will make a workshop with Ursula and Felipe an experience not to miss. They are masters in bringing questions to class, combined with a great range of methodologies to grow as a dancer. It is a premiere to have Ursula and Felipe together in Europe, so join them for play and learning. The topic for this workshop will be shared later.
