Festival Parties Fri 6, Sat 7 & Sun 8 March
- 3 Live band sets each night
- A female DJ line-up
- Taster on Friday with Genia: Let’s groove with the music
- On Friday and Saturday we open 2 rooms at De Centrale. Expect a variety of Blues music in both rooms!
- For the party on Sun 8 March at 2 pubs in the centre of Ghent, we prioritize festival participants. Please only join if you have a Big City Blues Full or Party pass.
Ruler of the Hill Competition
If the vibe is right, we open the floor for a ‘jam circle’ with a competitive element one of these nights. On live music, of course!
Anybody can join the circle, in whatever constellation (solo, couple, team, trio…) and challenge the current ‘ruler of the hill’. Two parties compete with each other every round during one or two blues choruses. The judges point to the winning party, who will stay in the circle to battle the next contestant! Those who stay longest, are crowned Ruler of the Hill!
There is no need to sign up beforehand, but contestants will be asked to queue on the spot so that everyone who wants to join, gets a fair shot.
Judges will look for personal expression, qualities of rhythm and musicality, blues aesthetics and overall quality of body movement. We are excited, are you?
